DJ Sy (Quosh Records)

DJ Sy

Winner of the best DJ HH award 2004 i take the chance to find out a bit about DJ Sy and the future of Quosh

Mole:
What got you into DJing?

Sy:
Always been into music from early age, listened religiously to pirate radio
in London in the '80s, thought I could do what the djs were doing on the
radio, bought decks....

Mole:
What got you into hardcore?

Sy:
Natural progression from what I was dj-ing & listening to, it's what "rave"
developed into

Mole:
Who are you infuences?

Sy:
Old Skool Hip Hop djs such as Cheese, Jazzy Jeff, Cashmoney

Mole:
Whats you favourite club/arena to play in?

Sy:
Too many to list - anywhere where the monitors are good!

Mole:
What have you got planned for us in the future, releases etc?

Sy:
Next 4 Quosh releases already produced (they will be featured on the new
Hardcore Heaven Cd and some other forthcoming Cds too). We will be filming
more DVDs, we are re-designing the website & Quosh Records label & sleeves.

Mole:
Would you mix another bonkers cd if you had the chance?

Sy:
Of course, but it looks like Hardcore Heaven will be the new ongoing brother
to Bonkers anyway...

Mole:
Do you like the scene now better than before or you still more into the
oldskool?

Sy:
The last couple of years have been fantastic, of course you can't beat the
original Old Skool raves, but the scene is currently enjoying a definite
purple patch!!

Mole:
Whats your favourite movie?

Sy:
Heat - my 2 favourite actors, Robert De Niro & Al Pacino, in a no-nonsense,
cleverly produced & tough thriller. Perfect.

Thanks For Your Time Sy

Mole:
What got you into DJing?

Unknown:
Going out raving back in the early 90's and loving it. Always been into
music so I guess it was a natural progression!

Mole:
What got you into hardcore?
Jenna Jameson......... ;-)

Mole:
Who are you infuences?

Unknown:
In the early days I guess people like Slipmatt, Grooverider, Sy & Tony
Blackburn!

Mole:
Whats you favourite club/arena to play in

Unknown:
Don't really have a favourite, anywhere with a good dj set up so I can enjoy
what I'm doing and a good crowd so they can enjoy what they're doing...

Mole:
What have you got planned for us in the future, releases etc?

Unknown:
Got loads of stuff coming out on Quosh, usual S&U bouncy sound, done some
remixes for people sucj as Scott Brown, Hectic, Mozz etc...

Mole:
Would you mix a cd if you had the chance?

Unknown:
I've not mixed one but yeah of course I would...... I'd love to show Hixxy
how to do it.... ;-)

Mole:
Do you like the scene now better than before or you still more into the oldskool?

Unknown:
You can't really compare them, the old days were unique I don't think there
will ever be another dance craze to be as huge as that. Music wise I don't
know either, the sounds are so different you can't compare them. I love the
way you could do whatever you wanted to back then and everyone would love
it. But I love the fact that it sounds so much better today!!

Mole:
Whats your favourite movie?

Unknown:
Usual Suspects, such a clever twist. Probably more but I can't think of them
at the moment.
